Grand International Pipers Parade
On June 5th, from 3.30pm to 5pm, don’t miss the spectacular Grand International Pipers Parade at Sword Beach. Nearly 200 musicians from 13 different nations will march in bands along Maritime Boulevard, accompanied by the flyby of historic PIPER aircraft, used for British reconnaissance. The second part of the event will be marked by a mass band aubade near the statue of Bill Millin, the famous Piper who landed there on June 6, 1944, in the presence of members of the Millin family. The most iconic melodies will resonate, such as Amazing Grace, Highland Cathedral, Flower of Scotland, and Skye Boat Song. In addition, a memorial film including testimonies of Bill Millin will be screened on the big screen, enriching this commemoration.
