Ecological mowing on the campsite
We went with green mowing. Because every year, in the spring, the big machines starts up again. Tractors, lawnmowers and strimmers are back as soon as the sunny days appear so that the garden is beautiful to welcome our campers in the best conditions.
But every year in the spring, our professional conscience takes precedence over our ecological conscience…
For a long time we have been thinking about eco-pasture, and in November we finally did it! We are proud to present “Cerise”, “Comète” and “Fraise” our small ecological lawn mowers. Eva, of course, could not wait to name these three Ouessant sheep who seem to be enjoying the campsite…
The Ouessant sheep is native to Brittany, it is a rustic, very often black sheep, and measures less than 50 cm. The Ouessant sheep is one of the prefered breeds for eco pasturing. This method of mowing, natural and respectful of the environment, allows us to maintain biodiversity and reduce green waste while remaining educational and silent …. or almost, because our three sheep like to communicate!
Many thanks to Leon for trusting us with a few sheep…
For the little ecological history, Léon is among other things a beekeeper, he lives only a few kilometers from the Campsite in Le Faulq. He has an orchard in which he allows the Ouessant sheep to graze, which avoids the use of weed killers on the apple trees. Not far from there, Leon installed hives that allow the bees to feed on the apple tree blossoms and pollinate them, which makes apple trees more productive and avoids the use of fertiliser.
