On June 6th, 2024, people will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, a historic event that changed the course of the Second World War. The Calvados, one of the main landing sites, is preparing to commemorate this memorable day. From Sword beach to Utah beach, passing through Juno, Gold and Omaha. The whole coastline will be remembering its most important historical event.
We have an opportunity to remember the courage and sacrifice of the thousands of Allied soldiers who fought for freedom. The Calvados offers a multitude of activities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings. The region organises official ceremonies, exhibitions, historical re-enactments and conferences throughout Normandy. Many events take place near Castel Camping Le Brévedent.
The D-Day museums give a fascinating insight into this period of history. We recommend the Caen Memorial and the Arromanches Landing Museum. They are only 1 hour from Camping du Brévedent. Visitors can also explore the D-Day landing beaches, military cemeteries and numerous memorials that are scattered throughout the region.

These events are an invitation to remember. But also to reflect and work together for a more just and peaceful world. We do this through official ceremonies, exhibitions and many moments of meditation.
