The Médiévales de Rouen is an annual event celebrating the French heroine Joan of Arc, burned alive on the Place du Vieux-Marché in 1431. These festivities, scheduled from the 29th to the 31st of May 2025, immerse the city in a medieval atmosphere, mixing history, culture and popular entertainment.
Program:
- Medieval Markets: Artisans and traders will offer products inspired by the Middle Ages, such as handicrafts, costumes and traditional dishes.
- Historical Camps: Reconstructions of medieval camps will allow visitors to discover the daily life of knights and peasants, with demonstrations of ancient trades and presentations of weapons.
- Parades: Costumed parades will animate the streets of Rouen, featuring historical characters, fantastic creatures and medieval music and dance troupes.
- Entertainment: Theatre performances, medieval music concerts, battle demonstrations and interactive workshops will be offered to entertain and educate participants of all ages.
- Official Ceremonies: Tributes to Joan of Arc, such as the lighting of the flame and the laying of sheaves, will take place on the Place du Vieux-Marché, in the presence of local personalities.
The Rouen Medieval Festival offers a unique opportunity to relive the medieval history of the city and celebrate the legacy of Joan of Arc in a festive and educational atmosphere.
